Our mission is to revolutionise shooting with cutting-edge AR technology, empowering athletes to unlock their potential—one perfect shot at a time.

About Us

Where it all began

Watching Game 6 of the Conference Finals in 2016 with my son, we were in awe of Steph Curry's incredible shooting. That moment sparked the idea for Perfect Shot Technology—a way to help kids improve their shooting skills and become sharpshooters like Curry.

From dream to reality

The journey began in 2017, after creating the first prototype (broken broomstick and a hula hoop). We knocked on doors in the Manawatu area, and after months of challenges, We connected with Idea Developments. After reviewing the idea's viability, we developed a second prototype—a phone version of the concept, marking the start of something big.

Building the Foundation

In 2018, after completing the second prototype, We connected with CEDA and learned the value of networking. Working with CEDA and Catalyst IP, We registered as a business, which allowed us to apply for grants and make significant progress on Perfect Shot Technology.

Lockdown Breakthrough

In February 2020, Perfect Shot Technology’s real mahi began, coinciding with COVID-19’s global impact. During New Zealand’s Level 4 lockdown, Gabe advanced the project at home, unveiling the Perfect Shot Technology prototype post-lockdown. A second lockdown provided more development time, resulting in a near-final MVP. Despite challenges like testing restrictions, the lockdowns proved advantageous, enabling significant progress while many businesses struggled. This marked a pivotal chapter in Perfect Shot's journey.

The journey continues

In September 2021, I connected with Kenny McFadden, inspired by his work with Steven Adams. Kenny became a mentor and advisor for Perfect Shot Technology, helping us connect with U.S. schools and universities. At Kenny’s camp in Wellington, the youth loved our product, and Kenny invited us back. Sadly, he passed away in March 2022 before our plans fully materialized, leaving a deep impact on everyone involved.

Key highlights included Chris Hunt joining as COO, providing expertise in design and operations, and gaining support from business experts Anita Derks, Bob Selden, and Tanya Wilson from Callaghan Innovation.

A trip to Auckland led to joining the Microsoft Founders Hub, marking a major milestone and potential partnership discussions.

Testing and Trialing

Testing and trialing at Hato Paora College was a pivotal moment for Perfect Shot Technology. The students embraced the product enthusiastically, showcasing its potential to enhance basketball skills. This hands-on experience provided valuable feedback, helping us refine the software and confirm its effectiveness. The positive reception from both students and staff highlighted the technology's ability to engage rangatahi, fostering excitement and demonstrating its value as a training tool in real-world settings.
